AMANDA TODD'S STORY: A HEARTBREAKING TALE

We've recently been shocked by Amanda Todd's terrifying story. She was bullied, insulted, punched and harrassed at school and on the web. She told her painful experience in a Youtube Video, where she opened her heart in the need of someone. She was alone. And she finally took her life as she couldn't put up with so much anxiety. We all have to learn from Amanda's story: as students to denounce and report bullies around us. As parents, listening to our kids and helping them in their everyday problems. And as teachers, making our students read, think, reflect and take action: they can make a difference with a single tweet, with a single post on their facebook walls, or just with a single word of comfort to the new kid in class or to the weirdo girl whom nobody talks to at breaktime. Who knows, perhaps it could have made a difference in Amanda's life. #STOPBULLYINGNOW #RIPAmandaTodd

BE EXTRAORDINARY

You are your future. Be extraordinary.

THE HELP INTERACTIVE ACTIVITIES

The film THE HELP is a great movie with a great story and wonderful performances by some great actresses. It makes you think, cry, laugh and ponder upon the horrible injustice of racism in the US not long ago, just 50 years ago. Watch the film and then improve your English with these interactive activities. http://www.cinemaperaestudiants.cat/activitats/Activitats2012/CRIADASYSE%C3%91ORAS/thehelp/THEHELPACTIVITIES.htm And remember this beautiful quote from Aibileen, the protagonist: You is kind, you is smart, you is important!

MISERY BEAR PREPARES FOR A DATE

Things are looking up for Misery Bear as he prepares for a date. If you're a bear it can be a little chaotic when it comes to cooking; blenders and bears don't mix. Misery Bear is pretty sure things will come together though, especially as he has candles and the perfect music. Maybe a relationship could be just what he needs to find a cure for his sad and lonely existence. See more from Misery Bear at bbc.co.uk/comedy.

Sad news: when your newspapers don't tell the truth

I'm sad, really sad to see how different newspapers deal with the same piece of news. But I get totally depressed to see that some pieces of news hit the headlines in THE NEW YORK TIMES but literally disappear from Spanish press. Is this censorship? Is this hiding a poignant reality that is drowning Spanish society? What is happening in Spain that everyone can see abroad but is silenced by Spanish authorities?
I want to post this article for everyone to see and learn the tragic story of Spanish miners, black-faced fighters that are fed up with unsustainable working conditions. Read and comment. And denounce, too if your government is hiding the truth from the media.
Thanks The New York Times for telling about Spanish misfortunes in English. We'll need to learn foreign languages to learn the truth.

I DON'T LIKE MY FOOD

9-year-old Martha Payne has shocked British society with her blog: NEVER SECONDS http://neverseconds.blogspot.co.uk/ where she denounces the poor quality food they're fed at school every day. Social media DO REALLY HAVE AN IMPACT on society and everyone can be responsible for denouncing (or praising) whatever worries you. The digital generation have a powerful tool in their hands and it's up to teacher to show them how to use them for good causes. Governments are starting to tremble... and I'm happy about it! I BELIEVE IN THE DIGITAL GENERATION! CONGRATULATIONS, MARTHA!
